At a mere 6 hours from Chicago, Minneapolis is a great option for a round trip adventure exploring nearby destinations like the boundary waters, Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest, Duluth/North Shore along Lake Superior, Isle Royale National Park, the Upper Peninsula, and more. Or, if you have more time, map out a bucket list cross country road trip and head west through South Dakota and visit Badlands National Park, the Black Hills and Custer State Park. Explore the crystal clear lakes while kayaking, canoeing, biking or hiking. A great jumping-off point for your road trip, Chicago is also a destination in and of itself. Be sure to check out the local food scene, the Bean at Millennium park, the world-renowned theaters and shows, and the trails surrounding the lake Michigan waterfront.
